Dogtra 175NCP Teaches a Dog to Go to a Place
One of the best commands and trucks to teach your dog is to go to a place when you are cooking dinner, eating dinner, when friends or family come to visit and when you just don’t want fido being demanding.
You can teach a climb or place command.
To do this I use an elevated dog bed which provides a visual difference in elevation.
I also use the Dogtra 175ncp dog training collar. This provides me the opportunity to correct the dog from a distance without having to be right on top of him or connected to a leash.
To start the training you will use a leash connected to the Dogtra 175NCP and walk your dog up to the dog bed and command climb as he steps onto the bed.
Stand by the bed with the transmitter in your right hand along with the leash. Your dog will probably immediately start to step off the bed so as soon as he places a foot on the ground pull back toward the bed as you tap the “nick” button on the controller. This should be set to only about a level of 10 as you don’t need strong correction. Your dog will probably step back onto the bed but start looking to get off again. Again you are ready and as soon as he steps one foot off keep your timing accurate and press the “nick” button as your command climb. After a few tried your dog should stay on the climb and not try to get off.
At this time you need to teach a release command. I suggest using the command “free”. Say this to your dog in a happy and upbeat voice as you give a nudge with the leash off the bed. If you dog comes use a joyful voice and say “good boy”. If he hesitates because he is afraid of a correction, nudge again and squat down saying “free” very happily as you pull your dog toward you off the climb.
Wait about 60 seconds before walking your dog over to the climb again to instruct staying on the bed.
